14th Meeting

Group Discussion & Decision

We discussed the business plan with our tutor and mentioned some points related to our idea.


Introduction:
The company name.
Group consists of people and we have to set up
The money shares

When it comes to market research:
The use of questionnaire
Target tourists
The importance of the result
Turning the results into valid information
The positive feedback to our idea

Marketing:
Promoting the idea
Budget- advertising
Branding- logo, website, uniforms etc.
The importance of cost regarding the uniforms
The price of food
The menu
Who are our competitors?

Promotion:
Offers example: 2 meals and get local wine, loyalty card etc.
This includes public relation- TV, newspaper, online sources etc.
Cause we are going to the customers
Open days- cultural events, council or government, markets, feasts etc.

Quality:
We have to keep in mind the registration of logo- the copyright
The detail of the logo- why the colours used
We have to find the offices
The garage/ storage
Including images of sources
The garage is central
Renting the garage
Food preparation 
The health and safety

Risk Assessment:
Buying or renting the generator
The insurance
Data backup- invoice
In case of a bad weather

As a group we discussed what was done so far and discussed what needs to be done in the coming weeks.
·         We determined the food menu.
·         We allocated each individuals role within the company according to their knowledge and experience to the given role.

·         We agreed that by next meeting all the given deliverables need to be done. We split the work between us evenly so that every individual has something to do. The work was split as follows: 

·         Lucianne has to:
o    Find licences required
o    Write a short biography of herself
o    Find and document the physical location (office and garage)

·         Rachel has to:
o    Finish off the analysis of the questionnaires
o    Research about the financial plan
o    Write a short biography of herself

·         Martha has to:
o    Find about the MFSA licence (Intangible Assets Protecting Intellectual property)
o    Write a short biography of herself
o    Document everything together

·         Claire has to:
o    Find prices needed such as appliances and any other materials that needs to be both for the bus to operate
o    Find the cost of the insurance of the bus
o    Write a short biography of herself

·         Edera has to:
o    Find food prices
o    Write a short biography of herself

·         Matthew has to:
o    Design the prototype
o    Design all graphical and artistic means related to the advertisements etc. (websites, social media, menu, promotional material, merchandise)
o    Document all the created information

Reflection


The work was split well among us however, some seem to have a lot to do than others, that is because they have not done their work allocated to them from the previous meeting. On the other hand, there is this one person from the group who seems to take everything lightly and while we give our suggestions, she disagrees and starts getting angry and frustrated. Her attitude has been like this almost since the beginning of the year. We also had an argument before which I thought it was useless to point out… She does her work most of the time but does not do it as requested, yet she denies that she had done them wrong.

In addition to this, around a week later, me and Lucianne were discussing to find what else is needed to be done and encouraged the team members to give us everything when they’re done to put everything together. While we were doing so we noticed that the same person, had not given everything she had to do, she gave us what she collected in a document but have not documented them correctly, which means she didn’t write paragraphs to explain what she found. We also approached her and told her that some other things need to be done however she constantly disagrees with us and say that she’s done her part and that’s it.

13th Meeting

Group Discussion & Decision

 -Discussed the SWOT analysis
- Discussed the market research that is being done by Martha and Rachel
- Discussed the questionnaire so far
- Branding and prototyping: this will be taken care by Matthew

- Direct and indirect competitors were searched by Edera and we discussed them briefly

Reflection

For this meeting, although we had agreed to meet at 12.30pm at the MCAST ICA, some of the group members had other things to do and we didn't have full presence of the group members. Those who didn't attend the meeting had reasonable excuses so they couldn't make it. However, me and Lucianne went to the meeting on time and two others were late, I was aware of one of them but the other just came to the meeting late without valid reasons.

 I think that some of the team members are taking this assignment lightly, and lately I have been pushing some of the team members to do something and that we shall keep deadlines in order to manage the work accordingly. I feel that more effort is needed by everyone.

Reflection

When splitting the work and ask my team to get the work done by the week after (due to having a short time and a lot of work), some take it easy and get it it done at the last minute or they won't send me the work at all. I lead and update my team with anything at anytime, but when coming to deal with a deadline they won't compromise along. This creates a conflict to the ones that get done the work and then they wouldn't be able to work on any other task since they need to wait for the other's results or response.

  • Packaging should be presentable and sourcing of materials needs to be done.
    • Ideally, packaging materials should be eco-friendly.

The day for the first meeting I couldn't attend. Yet, I have been notified with the things that were discussed at the meeting.

10th Meeting

Group Discussion & Decision

- Discussed further the few ideas and minimised it into two options.
- Evaluated the two different ideas which were: a food truck that sells Maltese food in a traditional Maltese bus and a Self-service cafeteria inside a bus. 

The evaluation was done on a piece of paper and evaluated each idea's Pros and Cons.

Food Truck idea

Pros: 
  - More interior space
  - More sales
  - Branding
  - Quick service
  - More variation of products
  - A wider range of customers
  - No need for accessibility

Cons:
  - No user experience within the bus.
  - Many other food trucks exist
  - May have variations of aesthetics

Self-Service Cafeteria

Pros:
  - Internal experience of the bus
  - Touristic target audience
  - Customers can be sheltered from rain

Cons:
  - Not accessible to wheelchair users
  - Limited internal space
  - Limited range of products

After this evaluation, we've noticed that a food truck is an ideal solution since there are more advantages rather than a self- service cafeteria.

Discussed and brainstormed names for the brand.

After the discussion of the two ideas, as a group we decided to continue working on the first idea on having a food truck.




We began the branding by mentioning different titles for this idea. The titles were:

Reflection

Today we needed to decide and conclude some decisions we were concerned about last week. So what we did is listed a list of pros and cons regarding each concerned decision we had and concluded by picking the idea that had the most positive pros.

I agreed on having the Food Truck Idea as it had the most advantages in the market.

9th Meeting

Group Discussion & Decision

Today we discussed our idea further by looking through the results from the questionnaire.

By looking through the results, we were still deciding whether we do a food truck (bus) by serving the food inside the bus or having the seating inside/ outside and if it will be going around Malta or not.

After discussing the issues, we set roles for the business idea.



Reflection

It was a short meeting due to having concerns to what decisions we shall take and continued on the work that we have split. 

4th Meeting

Group Discussion & Decision We have met again as a group, and started popping up with questions that we could ask to people to see wha...
